The editors of the journals NeuroImage and NeuroImage: Reports decided to stop working with Elsevier after the publisher refused their request to reduce the article processing charges for authors. The editor charged 3,450 USD, which is roughly the average for a medical journal with the same impact factor. They (the editors) believe that the article processing charges should be 1,000 USD or even less.

By the way, in 2022 (815) compared to 2021 (1129), the number of articles in NeuroImage decreased by 28%. In 2022, there were 775 OA articles (95%), while in 2021, all 1,129 articles were published as OA.

In 2023, 280 articles of this journal have already been indexed in Scopus. Among them, 167 (60%) were OA.
