The Columbia University Club of Belgium, in partnership with Bank Degroof Petercam, is pleased to present a high-level debate on the Futurology of Bitcoin, bringing together experts and pioneers in the field to explore the current context of the Bitcoin phenomenon and its future, from a variety of perspectives.

  • Jean Wallemacq, Blockchain entrepreneur, Partner of Benthurst & Co and Director  of the Belgian Bitcoin Association, will present a historic perspective and general overview of the Bitcoin phenomenon.
  • Jean-Jacques Quisquater, Professor at UCL and and internationally renowned cryptographer, will present the risks associated with the blockchain technology and the cryptocurrencies.
  • Laurent Hublet, Managing Director of BeCentral, will discuss the current and future usage of blockchain technologies by the Belgian authorties.
  • Bruno Colmant, Head of Macro Research Banque Degroof Petercam, will discuss the impact of Bitcoin on national fiscal and monetary policies.

The panel will be moderated by Gilles Quoistiaux, journalist at Trends Tendances who has written extensively on matters related to Bitcoin and blockchain technology.
